Craps' Sucker Bet

by: Mark Pilarski (adapted)

The famous "7" bet in Craps is actually considered a sucker bet by many. In every game bet quality can change from one position to another and sometimes inches can be significant percentages. In the casino, bet quality is rated in terms of the house edge, which represents the long term average percentage of the money you bet that the casino keeps. The greater the house's edge the more of our hard earned money they keep.

The magnificent payoffs of the "7" are a direct result of the house's very high advantage and represents the worst wager you can make on a craps table. This one roll proposition has a house edge of 16.7% while a pass line wager has a casino advantage of 1.41%!
